Once the site of an old quarry, now an up and coming suburb set in stone.
The name Keperra is derived from Yuggera words, specifically “kipper” or “kippa,” which signify a young man. This suburb features a 27-hole Championship golf course known as Keperra Country Club, a football (soccer) club named Westside FC, shopping centers (Great Western, along with two smaller ones near Keperra station on Dallas Parade and near Grovely station on Dawson Parade), various churches, a hospital, and a designated dog off-leash area. To the south, the suburb is bordered by a lush and protected area of vegetation called Keperra Bushland, north of The Gap
Fun fact: From 1966 to 1998 there was a drive-in movie theatre located on what is now known as the King’s Grove housing estate. It was operated by R.W.P. Dodd Theatres and later by Birch Carol & Coyle. It could accommodate 650 cars. The streets on this land are named after famous actors and actresses including Nicole Kidman and Leonardo DiCaprio.
